Expected semi-final of IPL 2022
As the IPL 2022 is heading towards its semi-final stage, the sense of competition for the qualification in the first 4 has increased manifolds. Till now almost 90% of the group matches have been completed and we are left with a few only. The positions of 4 teams are almost finalized yet some are still fighting.
Lower Teams
To date only 3 teams out of 10 are out of the game, i.e. they carry zero chance of qualification in the top four and those are Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. All these teams are left with one match each, but even the wins cannot help them out now.
Top Team
Talking about the top teams, Gujarat Titans has topped the board and there is no possible combination that even if they lose their last match can result in a change of their position. The competition is at its peak among the rest 6 teams.
2nd and 3rd Team
The advantage of 1st two teams is that in the semi-final, the loser of the top 2 will get an extra chance to qualify for the final by playing match against the winner of the 3rd and 4th team. So this battle will be fought between Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals, who are 2nd and 3rd on the table respectively. The loss of LSG will not much affect them as much as it has 8 wins and an NRR of 0.385 but the situation is worrying for RR if they lost and Delhi Capitals won their match against Punjab Kings with a good margin they can take place of RR but they will still remain in top 4.
Now coming towards the 4th positioned team which is Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are soon going to be out of the final four. And the reason to that is their NRR which is as low as -0.323. the team has 7 wins against his name out of 13 matches.
The reason for changing the fourth qualifier will be the match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings which played on Monday 16 May. Both the teams have 6 wins against 12 matches and more NRR than RCB, the win of either of the teams will make RCB out of the tournament and the winner will qualify as the fourth team.
Twister
But the twist does not stop here, another team Sunrisers Hyderabad if wins both matches with a good margin and increases their NRR more than the fourth team, there are very mere chances of their qualification as well. But for now, we disregard this aspect as the chances are very less.
Prediction of top 4
There is no doubt in Gujrat Titans as it is leading the board with 9 wins and still 1 match remaining.
Lucknow Super Giants is playing a match against Rajasthan Royals and having more probability of win and maintained the 2nd position.
The match between Punjab kings and Delhi capitals may have the DC as the winner and qualify for the 4th team of the playoff match.
