As the COVID has died, the life of cricket stadiums has come back. The Future Tour Program (FTP) of ICC, which issues the schedule of cricket teams of the world, was affected in terms of timeline e.g. Asia Cup, yet many countries are trying to play the series as per scheduled plan.
The Australian tour to Sri Lanka was scheduled in June-July 2022. The tour was planned to play 3 t20s, 5 ODIs and 2 Tests in Colombo, Galle and Pallekele. The first match was scheduled on June 7 and the last test is to start on July 12, 2022. Before this tour, Sri Lanka visited Australia at the start of the year. They lost the T20 series
T20 International
The teams have completed the T20 series and won by Australia again.1st and 2nd T20s were easily won by Team Australia by 10 and 3 wickets respectively while the 3rd was won by Sri Lanka by 4 wickets.
One Day International
In the ODI series, 2 matches have been played so far. Both the teams have one match each. Both the matches were very interesting to watch as the situation was changing abruptly at every moment. After the 1st innings the chances of winning team was one, by the end it was the other. 1st was a high-scoring match and Australia chased it, while 2nd was a low scorer and Australia could not.
In the first ODI, Sri Lanka played excellently and scored 300 in 50 overs with Mendis 86, Nissanka 56 and Gunathilaka 55. The match was reduced to 44 overs due to rain and thus the target to 282. The Austrian team chased it in 42.3 overs. Maxwell was awarded as Man of the Match as of his fast 80 runs in 51 deliveries.
In the 2nd ODI, Sri Lanka could not do well with bat and was restricted to 220. The match was again interfered with and reduced to 43 overs with a target of 216. The whole Australian team got out on a total of 189 in 37 overs. Chmiaka was declared as Man of the Match due to his 3 wickets.
