According to recent news, the schedule for England’s upcoming tour of Pakistan remains unchanged, which is good news for cricket fans of Pakistan.
According to sources the tour includes three-match Test series. It is scheduled for the next month and is most likely to go ahead as planned.
The 1st Test will be played as scheduled on December 1 in Rawalpindi. The second Test would take place on December 9 in Multan and the third to be played on 17 December as scheduled in Karachi.
There was a state of confusion as to political instability in the country prevailing for the last 8 months. The PCB made this announcement, after receiving approval from relevant authorities. It is important to note that Rawalpindi is preparing for the long march of the opposition political party Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf led by former captain Imran Khan, which is currently moving towards Islamabad. It is feared that this march will disrupt daily life in the two cities in the coming days.
ECB security group likewise cleared the security plans set up by the management of Pakistan. The sources reported to the security delegation of ECB that the tour’s security is completely satisfactory and no chance of any mishap is seen as per their inspection.
For the much-anticipated tour, the England squad will arrive in Pakistan on November 27, 2022.
For Pakistan, they need to win this series to keep them in the running for the World Test Championship Final. With 52% of the points won, Green Shirts led by Azam is currently standing at no 5 in the World Test Championship.
In an interview, Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq told that the series against England and New Zealand is crucial for the team because of the World Test Championship standings. We can stay in the race for the final of the Championship by winning 3 to 4 matches in the upcoming series.
The current cycle began in July 2021 and will continue till June 2023. It includes the top 9 Test teams and includes 6 series played by each team. The final will be played between the top 2 teams at The Oval in June 2023.
